Migrate "News" from old website into new Website. Per News Item on the old website, create new "News" contents on the new website. see also #164

Is it easy to move a drupal "Site" to a new server? I am in contact with the server-administrators, what should we take care of?

comment:7 Changed 13 years ago by rk

It's easy. See http://drupal.org/requirements for system requirements. PHP Memory should be at least 64MB (32Mb is the minimum for Drupal7 Core). We need an scp or ftp access. We need a database and a dbuser for drupal. We'll install a minimum version and then migrate everything with the backup and migrate module (and scp/ftp).

deadlinks will be to find on monday in at least the following places:

  • 2 news views/ blocks linking tp "all news"
  • applications view / linking to "all plugins"
  • Login / Register (may be also absolute links)
  • broken images in the news block when it is shown on pages which are more deep than 2 "/" deeper than /content/* - e.g. search result page

i can take care of this. but relative links do not work in any case, cause these herementioned elements can show up on any place of the website and thus need always different relative links.
dunno better.

  • identify 1 responsible person, making quarterly shifts on this mailbox to: activate users, coordinate community users publish needed content and translations, publish content

comment:13 Changed 13 years ago by Malte

should be one mailbox for all coordination tasks, see also rk`s comment above on change mailboxes: from, notifications as well as module and webapp updates.. that they get done from somone.

Replying to Malte:

  • 2 news views/ blocks linking tp "all news"

Found and fixed one.

  • Login / Register (may be also absolute links)
  • broken images in the news block when it is shown on pages which are more deep than 2 "/" deeper than /content/* - e.g. search result page

Fixed.

  • applications view / linking to "all plugins"

Couldn't find this.

They should work, if you put a / in front of the URL.
