Description

For the issue of letting geomaps support ("many geo coordinates" of a) like e.g. of a "Twitter Search"-Topic:

.. to get the "Twitter Research"-plugin to integrate properly with dm4-geomaps we would have to find solutions for the following issues in the geomaps-module which now arised:

  • an application where the geo coordinates are known in advance (as mentioned above) - is now #558
  • allow a "Geo Coordinate"-Topic to be related to many "domain topics" (as it is the nature of a coordinate)
  • let a "Geomap" to render domain topics with many "Geo Coordinate"-Topics (e.g. that of a "Twitter Search"

A follow up of #550.

The subject of this ticket seams not to be Twitter Research specific.
We should make the ticket title more concise.

As a short update:

Enabling a "Geo Coordinaate" to be used in many domain topics was also just covered by #798. Adding an IndexMode?.KEY was a pre-requisite to this and i dont see any other open issue to this.

Expanding the dm4-geomaps plugin could be a remaining issue covered by this ticket but currently i dont see a use-case for it, except (of course) displaying domain topics (with a user-adjustable level of child-topics*) instead of just "Geo Objects".

Problem description:
Rendering a composite topic which represents for example the "Bundesrepublik Deutschland", one may either see the capital rendered, the 16 capitals of all 16 states rendered, or geometries (collections of geo coordinates) for both rendered, or *you name it*.

A bit more easy with a person entry in the dm4-contacts module: One may want to have rendered her work address and her private address along with her most liked or photographed places as features/markers in a single geomap.

About priority:
I would not assign such a complex and generic feature-set any priority in the development of the standard distribution or the webclient, esp. not by the core team.

Rendering all twitter entries of "search bucket" (composite) is not of any interest to me (or anyone i know) mostly because of other tools (presenting tweets geographically) having advanced so much that i dont see the need anymore for having yet another one.

Out of my perspective, this ticket could be closed.

  • Priority changed from Major to Minor
  • Summary changed from dm4-geomaps supporting twitter resrarch plugin to dm4-geomaps: rendering and integration of many geo-coordinates as childs

The first case mentioned in this ticket is now effectively supported since "supression of automatic geo-coding is possible (#980):

  • an application where the geo coordinates are known in advance (as mentioned above) - is now #558

The following case may be the remainder of this issue but i don't know anyone seeing this as a current priority:

  • allow a "Geo Coordinate"-Topic to be child of many "domain topics" (as it is the nature of a coordinate)
  • let a "Geomap" render domain specific topics with many "Geo Coordinate" childs (e.g. that of a "Twitter Search"

While the latter would be nice, the former (geo-spatial references as values) have kind of the same identity-value issue jri mentioned recently in the context of when storing information in "time".
