XML based import and export of data

It would be very useful if one could import and export data in XML format.
A usecase could e.g. be the export of selected data from DM to Libre-Office Calc or the import of contacts from evolution / thunderbird into DM and so on. XML data can be savely transformed in all kinds of import and export formats via XSLT transformations.
Another usecase could be to export data and store it in git or svn, so that one could possibly have a backup of the data including a version control.
Defining a meta XML scheme for DeepaMehta seems like a useful idea in this context.
