Edit Topics in a Popup-Window

As a user I am confused that editing a Topic happens in the DetailPanel?. It would improve the usability a lot, if editing would happen in a popup window. The DetailPanel? is important and necessary to display the relevant association and to navigate to associated topics.

But from my observation the user is always irritated when trying to edit a topic. A popup form would therefore heavily improve the editing process and could be implemented relatively easy without major changes. The popup would only appear if the user doubleclicks a a topic in the canvas. The edit button in the detail panel might still remain as it is.
